Hi. I'm glad you're here. This space is for sharing all about what's going on in my life. Enjoy!

A look into my life, my training, my accomplishments and my goals.

2020: Now with more Nuun!

I am beyond excited to be a Nuun Ambassador for this year!

Nuun makes delicious electrolyte products not only for endurance sports, but for everyday hydration, too. They have fizzy tabs you can put into any 16 oz. water glass to dissolve into a delicious concoction that’s guaranteed to make you feel better. Aside from sport products, they also have Immunity, Vitamin and Sleep mixes for whatever your body needs.

I first heard about Nuun on the Triple Bypass. If you’re unfamiliar, it’s a 120 mile bike ride over 3 mountain passes (with a little small mountain thrown in between 2 and 3 for good measure) and over 11,000’ of climbing. My boyfriend had a goal of doing the ride for a long time; he was signed up for 2018 before suffering knee issues and decided to drop. He was so determined in 2019, nothing was going to stop him. His knee was healthy again, and he decided it would be his year. He trained all winter. He was ready.

I, on the other hand, had just decided to give riding a try in January 2019. And yes, that means I didn’t really start in January, because the winters here are rough. I didn’t get on my bike until sometime in the spring, but I had already been training in the spinning studio. My original goal was to do a sprint triathlon in the summer, but a running injury (because I like to push it just a little too hard) made that impossible. I mostly spent my time swimming and spinning until it was warm enough to get out on my bike.

Training in the Wyoming wind is brutal, but I think it helped me earn a little grit, which is what you need to keep you going when you just don’t want to go anymore. I signed up for the Double Bypass (75 miles, only 2.5 mountains) because I thought it’d be fun, difficult and a an experience that would bring us closer together. (Spoiler alert: It was so beautiful and so much fun!)

Nuun was an event sponsor, and the aid stations were loaded with their Endurance mix. It helped both of us make it to the finish line without a hitch. I’ve been a big fan ever since. Some days I sweat so much that I crave my grape Nuun Sport. I am going to start training with Nuun Endurance because my training is really ramping up this year, and I know I’m not going to be able to make it through some of these sessions without a little help.

If you’ve tried Nuun in the past and didn’t like it, I encourage you to give it another shot. They’ve updated the ingredients for their tablets, and from what it sounds like, people are a lot happier with they way it dissolves and tastes. I’ve definitely noticed a difference between the old and new — so much better!

Everyone is different though, and I get that what works for me doesn’t work for everyone. Sometimes after 5 hours of gels and electrolyte drinks and what have you, the wrong taste can just throw you off so hard (or, even worse, make you sick).

For those of you who love Nuun — I am right there with you! The taste isn’t overbearing, and I love that I can plop a tab right in my water bottle whenever I need it. I keep some in my gym bag at all times just in case I need to catch back up on my hydration after a tough Sprint class (the amount of sweat produced in that class is honestly astounding). Tonight I had some Immunity, a little extra boost for my immune system because everything going around is downright scary and I don’t want to get sick again after being wiped out for basically the whole month of December.

If you have any questions about Nuun, electrolytes, hydration or sweat, I’m all ears — get in touch! Otherwise, if you’d like to try some of their products, you know where to find me: out on the road or in the gym.
